You’d think a game between two Ivy League schools would be the last place you’d see someone punch through a window, right?
Wrong.
In the first half of Saturday’s game between Dartmouth and Harvard at Harvard Stadium, a Dartmouth coach punched through a window in a press box. Why would he do such a thing? Well, it turns out he was pretty upset after the Crimson recovered a fumbled Dartmouth punt return, per Harvard Athletics’ radio station.
And here’s a picture of the window after it was “repaired:”
The culprit later was identified as Dartmouth defensive quality control coach Dion King. According to a Harvard parent in the stands, King’s reckless punch caused “shards of glass” to fall onto fans in the stands below.
Big Green coach Buddy Teevens issued a statement on the incident after the game, a 25-22 Harvard win.
“Dion and Dartmouth Football are terribly sorry for his actions and any harm caused by them,” Teevens said, via USA TODAY Sports. “We hold ourselves to high standards, and in this instance we failed to conduct ourselves appropriately. Dion, Dartmouth Football, and I apologize wholeheartedly to everyone impacted, as well as to Harvard and Dartmouth.”
Pretty rough day for King and Big Green.
