The Los Angeles Clippers might be moving some intriguing names at the NBA trade deadline. And apparently a title contender is interested.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are “quietly exploring” the possibility of trading for Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan, NBA reporter Sam Amico reported Wednesday on his website, Amico Hoops, citing league sources.

The Feb. 8 trade deadline still is months away, and according to Amico, nothing is in the works yet: The Cavs have yet to be aggressive in pursuing Jordan and simply are “sniffing around” about a potential deal, per Amico’s source.

Jordan in Cleveland certainly is an enticing possibility, though. The 29-year-old big man, who is averaging a double-double (11.1 points, 15.0 rebounds per game) on a struggling Clippers team, could provide a frontcourt boost to a Cavs club that has won 18 of its last 20 games but still ranks 21st in the NBA with a minus-1.3 rebound differential.

Cleveland also is expected to have Isaiah Thomas back from injury soon, and adding Jordan could boost their chances of returning to the NBA Finals and downing the mighty Golden State Warriors.
