The Boston Bruins pulled off a blockbuster trade with the New York Rangers on Sunday to acquire top-six forward Rick Nash for a package of players and draft picks, but general manager Don Sweeney wasn’t done making roster moves.

The B’s announced Sunday the signing of veteran forward Brian Gionta to a one-year, one-way contract worth $700,000.

Gionta last played with the Buffalo Sabres during the 2016-17 season, with whom he tallied 35 points (15 goals, 20 assists) in 82 games. He most recently played on the United States men’s Olympic hockey team in South Korea, where he captained the squad to a quarterfinal berth.

The 37-year-old forward is a veteran of 1,006 career NHL games and won the Stanley Cup with the 2002-03 New Jersey Devils.
