The Boston Celtics will be trying to keep pace in the Eastern Conference standings with a fourth straight victory on Wednesday when they host the Charlotte Hornets as 7-point favorites on the NBA odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Boston ended a three-game straight up losing streak on home hardwood with a 109-98 win over Memphis as an 11.5-point favorite on Monday to remain a half-game back of the Toronto Raptors going into Wednesday night’s Hornets vs. Celtics betting matchup at TD Garden.

The Celtics have proven to be streaky performers at home since opening the campaign with SU wins in 13 of their first 15 contests at TD Garden. The club is a middling 9-9 SU in their past 18 home dates, including a 4-6 SU mark over its past 10, and is a dismal 7-12-1 against the spread over its past 20 on home court.

Not surprisingly, Boston has steadily declined on the NBA championship odds. The Celtics climbed to +700 on the title futures during an early-season 16-game SU win streak but have since taken a step back to their current position at +1800, where they are joined by the Raptors.

Consistency has not been a problem for the Celtics when they face Charlotte. Boston has taken 10 of 11 overall from the Hornets, posting against the spread wins in nine of those contests. The Celtics have also topped Charlotte in three straight home dates, limiting the Hornets to just 91 points per game during that run, capped by a 90-87 win as 3-point home chalk on November 10.

The Hornets travel to Boston after posting a 118-103 win over Chicago as 10.5-point home favorites on Tuesday, extending their current SU win streak to five games. Despite their recent strong play, the Hornets have produced uneven results in recent road outings.

Charlotte is just 4-5 SU in its past nine on the road, and has been a disappointment at the sportsbooks, going 2-6-1 ATS, but are a solid 5-2-2 ATS in their past nine road matchups when pegged as underdogs by seven or more points according to the OddsShark NBA Database.

Following Wednesday’s contest the Celtics embark on a three-game road trip, starting in Houston on Saturday and continuing with a visit to Chicago next Monday.

The Celtics have tallied two straight victories over Houston, including a narrow 99-98 win as 2-point home underdogs on December 28. However, Boston has struggled in road dates with the league-leading Rockets, going 1-5 SU and 2-4 ATS in six visits to Toyota Center.
