Lonzo Ball Explains Why He, Isaiah Thomas Will Thrive As Lakers Teammates

Many basketball fans were expecting a point guard feud for the Los Angeles Lakers, but the team’s prized rookie doesn’t foresee any bad blood.

The Lakers effectively drafted their future face of the franchise in Lonzo Ball with the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft. Ball was serving as Los Angeles’ starting point guard since the start of the season, but a knee injury paved the way for a new face in the lineup.

Amid Ball’s 15-game absence, the Lakers traded for Isaiah Thomas in a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers mere hours prior to the Feb. 8 trade deadline. Thomas shined in his L.A. debut with a 22-point performance against the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 22, leading many to believe he could become the Lakers’ go-to scorer in short time.

And Ball, a gifted passer, probably wouldn’t be opposed to this idea.

Ball spoke with the media Friday ahead of his return game against the Mavs at Staples Center. The 20-year-old squashed any idea of beef between he and Thomas, explaining why the two point guards will be able to complement each other on the court.

“Opposites attract,” Ball said, via The Orange County Register. “I like to pass, he likes to shoot. So I think we’re going to work well. And he can definitely help me on the offensive end, just the way he comes off screens. How he gets to his spots on the floor so he definitely helps me a lot.”

We’d love to hear LaVar Ball’s take on the 5-foot-9 Thomas.
