Neymar Injury: PSG Star Reportedly Out Vs. Real Madrid In Champions League

Neymar won’t attend class the day of Paris Saint-Germain’s biggest test.

The PSG forward will miss his team’s UEFA Champions League round of 16 second-leg game against Real Madrid due to the ankle injury he suffered Sunday, according to Sky Sports. The teams will meet March 6 in Paris, but Neymar, the French club’s record signing and top attacking threat, almost certainly won’t play as PSG looks to overturn a 3-1 deficit against the two-time defending European champion.

Neymar injured his ankle late in PSG’s 3-0 win over Marseille in Ligue 1 (French first division). He was in tears as medical staff stretchered him off the field.

Some initially feared Neymar broke his ankle, putting his participation in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and Brazil’s chances of winning the tournament, in serious doubt. However, a scan showed only ligament damage, and he’s expected to return in three weeks.

But that timetable probably won’t comfort PSG fans, whose dreams of Champions League success have inched closer toward reality in recent seasons. At least, that’s what they believe.
