Rick Nash’s Goal-Line Save Prevents Hurricanes From Taking Early Lead Vs. Bruins

Rick Nash is known for his offensive skill, but it was his defense and awareness that helped save a goal for the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night at TD Garden.

Nash saw a puck headed toward the Bruins’ net early in the first period, reached out with his stick and collected the puck as it hit the goal line, barely preventing the Carolina Hurricanes from taking a 1-0 lead.

Nash scored his first goal with the Bruins — and the 800th point of his NHL career — later in the opening period.

The veteran forward was acquired from the New York Rangers via trade on Sunday.
