John Shuster is receiving perks worthy of an Olympic hero.

A passenger swapped his first-class seat with Shuster for one in coach Monday morning on their flight from South Korea to the United States in appreciation for the USA curling skip’s gold medal achievement at the 2018 Olympics. Shuster shared the fan’s gift with the wider sporting public via Twitter.

“Some stranger who attended our Gold Medal game heard I was onboard today and offered to trade seats sending me up to First Class,” Shuster wrote. “I’m truly humbled by random acts of kindness. Thank you sir, time to double my sleep from the last few days! #NapTime.”

Shuster revealed the fan’s identity as Hollywood, Fla., native Gary Butler and asked his followers to give Butler a “big Twitter Thank You.”

Delta previously had denied Shuster and his American teammates a first-class upgrade after they took down Sweden to capture Olympic gold, so we understand why the skip was so excited by this fan’s generosity.

The unexpected upgrade is just one of many ways Americans undoubtedly will thank Shuster in the coming weeks and months for winning the country’s first Olympic gold medal in curling. Let’s hope it’s not the last.
