Baker Mayfield likely never will be able to escape from certain instances in his past.

The charismatic quarterback compiled a brilliant collegiate career at Oklahoma, but his on-field star power often was matched by foolish antics off the gridiron. While Mayfield certainly has cleaned up his act of late, he recently was reminded of a moment he’d like to forget.

In a column for Sports Illustrated, Robert Klemko detailed Mayfield’s meeting with the Cleveland Browns at the NFL Scouting Combine last week, which was kickstarted by a harsh troll on behalf of the team’s general manager.

“Right off the bat,” Klemko writes, “before the handshakes and intros, and before the Heisman trophy winner sat down, (John) Dorsey in his booming Southern Maryland drawl fired one across the bow.

“So you like food trucks?”

No, Mayfield isn’t known for fancying meals from automobiles. The highly touted QB prospect was arrested in Arkansas last year after trying to make a run for it while being questioned by police for a fight that broke out around a collection of food trucks. The clip has become a social-media favorite, and apparently Dorsey has come across it a time or two as well.

The Browns have been disappointed by a quarterback with a checkered past before, so you can’t knock the team for doing its due diligence.
