Dak Prescott’s fan base might have swelled when he swapped football for futbol for one night.
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback attended an international soccer game between Mexico and Croatia on Tuesday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, joining the vast majority of the 79,128 fans on hand in supporting “El Tri.”
FOX Sports’ cameras showed Prescott decked out in a Mexico jersey and scarf as he sat in one of the luxury boxes at his home stadium.
Croatia defeated Mexico on Ivan Rakitic’s 62nd-minute penalty kick.
Afterward, Prescott mingled with Mexico players near their locker room. He exchanged one of his autographed Cowboys jerseys for one of Mexico winger Hirving “Chucky” Lozano’s national team shirts. Prescott even offered Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa some words of encouragement ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Many Google searched “is Dak Prescott Mexican?” following the game. He’s not, but that doesn’t mean he can’t enjoy El Tri’s months-long World Cup party along with the legions of Mexico fans in the United States and beyond.
