Guess who’s Back(es)?

After receiving 18 stitches to close a laceration on his right leg March 17, David Backes will return to game action Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning, per NBC Sports Boston’s Joe Haggerty.

The Bruins forward suffered the injury when he collided with the net and was cut in the unprotected area of his right leg.

Backes was seen skating earlier this week in sweatpants and told Haggerty the doctors aren’t worried about the cut getting infected, giving him the OK to play.

“We’ve got the green light,” Backes told Haggerty. “These are the games, where if you’re medically cleared, that you get in any way that you can.”

The Bruins host the Lightning on Thursday night at TD Garden in a crucial divisional game as Boston sits just one point behind Tampa Bay for first place, so getting Backes back into the lineup adds some reinforcement to an injury-riddled B’s team.
