Derrick Rose Goes Off On Doubters: ‘I Don’t Need Your (Expletive) Validation’

Looks like Derrick Rose woke up on the wrong side of the bed Saturday.

The Minnesota Timberwolves guard was asked about those who believe he’s washed up, and the 29-year-old former NBA Most Valuable Player had a lot to say.

“This is how I feel about it, the whole perspective on it: You could have your perspective on me, as far as I’m a bum, I can’t play, I can’t shoot, this and that, all right, cool,” Rose said, via ESPN.com’s Nick Friedell. “I have no hard feelings with that. I’m cool with that. (If) that’s how you feel, that’s how you feel, but at the same time, I don’t need your f–king validation.

“I know who I am, I know what type of player I am. So you respect that and I respect that (point of view) and we should be good. That’s how I feel about it.”

Point taken, Derrick.

No one questions Rose’s talent. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, Rose elevated to stardom thanks to his hyper-aggressive play style.

But a rash of injuries have derailed his career, to the point where he was contemplating retirement earlier this season before the Cleveland Cavaliers traded him.

Let’s hope Rose some how can regain his past form, as there have been few players in NBA history as exciting as he was in his early 20s.
