Gisele Bundchen Won’t Tell Tom Brady To Retire Despite Health Concerns

Gisele Bundchen does what any good wife does — care about the health of her husband.

One thing she won’t do, however, is dictate when 40-year-old Tom Brady will retire from the NFL despite any concerns she may have about him continuing to play football.

Bundchen has spoken in the past about concerns she has regarding the long-term effects that football can have on the body — particularly concussions.

The 37-year-old-model-turned-author told the Wall Street Journal that it’s not her decision to make when it comes to the New England Patriots quarterback calling it a career.

“It’s his decision and he knows it,” Bundchen said in the interview. “It wouldn’t be fair any other way.”

Brady, who will be 41 in August, won the NFL MVP award at age 40, but the Patriots suffered a disappointing 41-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII, keeping Brady from his sixth title. Bundchen noted that Brady is “so focused” right now and that she can see just how passionate he remains about football.

“He has a laser focus on just winning and being the best,” she said.

Despite Brady being focused on winning, Bundchen said she’s entitled to her concerns because of their children, Benjamin, Vivian and John, and the quarterback’s health.

“If you don’t have your health, what do you have?,” Bundchen said.

At the end of the day, she wants Brady to be happy and doesn’t want to tell him when to retire because if he were to call it quits after something Bundchen said, he would resent her.

“I want him to be happy. Believe me, I’ve been with him when he’s losing.”

Brady is coming off a season where he threw for 32 touchdowns and eight interceptions — the most he’s thrown since the 2015 season where he was picked off seven times.
