Here’s Gordon Hayward Playing Basketball In 30-Second Rehab Sneak Peek

We know. We just told you Gordon Hayward almost certainly won’t return to the Boston Celtics this season.

But we’d be remiss if we didn’t let you know about a 30-second video clip that will excite more than a few Celtics fans.

The Players’ Tribune posted a video Friday of Hayward working on some dribbling and shooting with his trainer. In the video, you can tell he is able to move with plenty of quickness and sharpness, while also elevating off the floor a bit on his jump shot.

Yes, it’s Hayward doing “basketball activities,” but it’s more than just spot shooting: The Celtics forward goes through some decently intense dribbling drills (while also making every shot, thanks to the wonders of video editing).

Hayward tweeted the same video out on his own account, adding the caption: “Patience. One goal.” His trainer, Jason Smeathers, also weighed in.

So, can we mark our calendars for Hayward’s return this spring? Not quite. Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said Thursday that Hayward isn’t doing any “live action” on the court outside of shooting and ball-handling, which is all we see here.

But after watching the All-Star forward go down in his very first Boston start, C’s fans will take what they can get.
