Jason McCourty Continues To Follow Kenny Britt Around NFL With Patriots

Twin brothers Devin and Jason McCourty had never been on the same NFL team until a trade last week finally reunited them after nine seasons. Jason McCourty and Kenny Britt have spent a ton of time together on the same teams, however, and they too have reunited with the New England Patriots.

McCourty and Britt played together for three seasons in college at Rutgers. Britt was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft. McCourty was taken five rounds later in the same draft class. They spent five seasons together in Tennessee before Britt signed with the then-St. Louis Rams as a free agent. After Britt’s contract with the Rams was up, he signed a four-year deal with the Cleveland Browns in March of 2017. McCourty signed a two-year deal with the Browns two months later.

Three months into the 2017 season, however, Britt was released by the Browns. He was signed to a two-year deal by the Patriots, who traded for McCourty last week. Including the 2018 season, McCourty and Britt will have spent 10 of the last 13 seasons together.

So, is Jason following Britt around or something?

“We’ve been joking about that since we got to Cleveland,” McCourty said Tuesday, via conference call. “I don’t know what it is, but we just can’t get away from each other. Our kids get along really well. Our wives are good friends, so maybe it’s just meant to be for me and him to hang out throughout our NFL careers.”

McCourty and Britt are two of four Rutgers products on the Patriots. Devin also spent three years with Britt at Rutgers. Safety Duron Harmon played one season at Rutgers with Devin, who was drafted by the Patriots in 2010.
