The signage at Auto Club Speedway this weekend is not a joke. The new “Roseanne” TV show really is sponsoring Saturday’s NASCAR race.
The Roseanne 300 will be run Saturday at 5 p.m. ET in Fontana, Calif., with actor Michael Fishman (who plays D.J. on the show) serving as grand marshal for the NASCAR Xfinity Series race, the speedway announced.
While the show’s name and branding will feature prominently around the track and #Roseanne300 will be the race’s official hashtag on Twitter, it’s unclear how the race will be branded on TV and online streaming. FOX Sports is running the broadcast and airing the race on FS1, but the new “Roseanne” show will appear on ABC.
On NASCAR.com, for instance, the race was listed simply as the California 300 as of Friday.
However it’s referred to, the California/Roseanne 300 should be worth watching. Austin Dillon and Joey Logano are the only full-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers currently in the field, which should make for a more even race, while Connecticut native Ryan Preece will make his national series season debut in the No. 18 Toyota.
