Nationals Manager Dave Martinez Had Players Practice Walk-Off Celebrations

Dave Martinez is all about learning by doing.

The rookie Washington Nationals manager brought in camels earlier in spring training to give his players a visual aid for getting over the playoff hump that has plagued them. And, now he’s giving another trick a whirl.

He’s having his players practice celebrating.

On Saturday, the first-year skipper told players to visualize celebrating a walk-off. He didn’t specify how the walk-off run was scored, but the players took it upon themselves to celebrate like they just crushed a game-winning dinger.

Take a look:

Hey, it can’t hurt to at least practice and have a little fun.

Martinez emphasized that they were doing it because they work hard and they deserve to have a little fun. But it certainly never hurts to try and get prepared for when they do execute that thrilling moment during the season.
