NFL Rumors: Drew Brees Turned Down This Lofty Deal To Return To Saints

It was hard to imagine Drew Brees moving on from the Saints, but that didn’t stop other NFL teams from trying to pull the veteran quarterback away from New Orleans.

Brees’ last contract with the Saints expired at the conclusion of the 2017 season, but the 39-year-old made it abundantly clear he wasn’t interested in playing with any team other than New Orleans. Both sides were able to come to an agreement Tuesday, as Brees reportedly is expected to sign a two-year, $50 million deal with the Saints.

Despite the seemingly inevitable happening, Brees still generated interested from around the league. The Minnesota Vikings reportedly reached out to Brees’ agent, and one team even had a deal in place that exceeded the Saints’ offer to the star QB, per ESPN’s Mike Triplett.

“A source said that at least one other team was willing to give Brees $60 million guaranteed over two years to try and woo him away from New Orleans,” Triplett writes.

Well, it looks like it’s not all about the bucks for Brees.
