NFL Rumors: Johnson Bademosi Signing With Texans After One Patriots Season

After one season with the New England Patriots, Johnson Bademosi is moving on.

The cornerback on Friday agreed to terms on a two-year, $6.25 million with the Houston Texans, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Bademosi primarily played in the kicking game with the Patriots, ranking third on the team in special teams snaps. Most of the 27-year-old’s playing time on defense came during Weeks 6, 7 and 8 — the three games starting cornerback Stephon Gilmore missed with a concussion.

Bademosi started all three of those games and played well, then returned to his previous role once Gilmore got healthy. He was a healthy scratch for New England’s divisional-round win over the Tennessee Titans, but an injury to Jonathan Jones allowed him to slot back into the lineup for the AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl LII.

Both of the Patriots’ free agent cornerbacks wound up signing elsewhere this week, with Malcolm Butler joining the Tennessee Titans on a five-year, $61 million contract. New England swung a trade Thursday for Cleveland Browns cornerback Jason McCourty, who will join Gilmore, Jones, Eric Rowe, Cyrus Jones, Ryan Lewis and Jomal Wiltz on the depth chart.
