NFL Rumors: Patriots Acquire Jason McCourty In Trade With Browns, Reunite Twins

We have a family reunion in Foxboro.

The Cleveland Browns are trading cornerback Jason McCourty and a 2018 seventh-round draft pick to the Patriots in exchange for New England’s 2018 sixth-round draft pick, Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot reported Thursday. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport confirmed the deal.

It previously was reported that the Browns had released McCourty — Jason even posted a farewell to Cleveland on Twitter — but the team didn’t make his release official, and it appears the Browns are getting compensation in return.

The deal reunites Jason with his twin brother, Patriots safety Devin McCourty. The two played together at Rutgers but had yet to suit up on the same NFL team — a scenario Devin seemed very excited about Thursday.

It appears Devin’s eye emojis worked.

Jason hasn’t had as much NFL success as his brother, but he’s still carved out a decent career. The 30-year-old spent eight seasons with the Tennessee Titans before signing a two-year contract with the Browns last offseason.
