NFL Rumors: This Player Is ‘A Lock’ To Be Picked No. 1 In 2018 Draft

We don’t mean to sound like a broken record, but the Cleveland Browns are primed to select a quarterback with their top pick in the NFL draft.

The Browns own the No. 1 overall pick in the draft for the second consecutive year, and while there have been conflicting reports as to which player Cleveland will target, a general consensus seems to be forming.

Following USC’s pro day Wednesday, several football minds solidified their belief that Sam Darnold will be the first player to walk across the stage and greet commissioner Roger Goodell in late April.

It’s worth noting Cleveland already has addressed its quarterback need in wake of the failed DeShone Kizer experiment. The Browns recently traded for Tyrod Taylor, and head coach Hue Jackson bluntly stated that Taylor will be the team’s starting QB heading into the 2018 season. With that in mind, Darnold will have the opportunity to learn sitting behind a veteran signal-caller if chosen by Cleveland.

Even with the odds seemingly in favor of Darnold, the Browns surely still will think long and hard about who to pick first overall. They’ll then have to go through the process once again when their next pick rolls around at No. 4.
