NFL Rumors: What Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr. Demands In Next Contract

Odell Beckham Jr. wants the New York Giants to break the bank on his behalf.

The New York Giants wide receiver wants to earn at least $20 million per season over the length of his next contract, NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo reported citing people close to the player. Beckham has become one of the NFL’s best wide receivers during his first four years in the league, and his reported salary demands would take him well past the NFL’s highest-paid receiver, Antonio Brown, whom the Pittsburgh Steelers will pay $17 million next season.

Beckham is returning from a serious ankle injury and entering the fifth and final year of his rookie contract. Down the road, the Giants could conceivably use the franchise tag on him in order to placate him while negotiating a long-term extension.

However, those talks might be lengthy and exhausting, given Beckham’s demands and the team’s need for an overhaul, following their 3-13 season.
