NHL Odds: Bruins Narrow Betting Favorites In Matchup Against Blues
The Boston Bruins begin a key four-game Western road trip in St. Louis on Wednesday when they face the Blues as narrow -115 betting favorites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com
Boston has struggled during a five-game stretch that has featured four road contests, falling to defeat in three of those outings, all as a betting favorite, going into Wednesday night’s Bruins vs. Blues betting matchup at the Scottrade Center.
The Bruins have been one of the top road clubs in the NHL this season, recording 20 wins and trailing only the league-leading Nashville Predators with just 10 losses in regulation away from TD Garden. However, victories have been scarce in recent road contests, with Boston going 2-4-0 in its past six.
The Bruins also saw a seven-game win streak on home ice halted in their last outing, a 5-4 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets as a -158 wager on Monday night.
Boston has produced middling results in road dates with Western Conference opponents this season, going 5-6-0. But the club has enjoyed success in recent meetings with the Blues, picking up the win in three of four overall, and in five of seven trips to St. Louis, capped by a 5-3 victory as a +102 underdog in January 2017.
The Blues are pegged as -105 underdogs as they look to tally a third straight victory. St. Louis is coming off a 5-4 win in Chicago as a -107 bet Sunday, continuing the strong offensive play that has generated 4.2 goals per game over its past five outings.
However, the Blues have yet to fully recover from a recent 1-7-2 run that threatens to bounce them from playoff contention for the first time in seven years, and has sent their Stanley Cup odds plummeting to +5000, well back of the +1600 odds they sported on opening night.
Following their date with the Blues, the Bruins travel to Dallas for a Friday night clash with the Stars, followed by a Sunday visit to Minnesota before closing out their road trip in Winnipeg next Tuesday.
The Bruins have posted four straight wins in Dallas, according to the OddsShark NHL Database, but dropped a 3-2 decision to the Stars as -156 home favorites on Jan. 15.
Boston also has posted wins in four of six meetings with the Wild, but has been shut out in two of its past three, including a 1-0 loss as a +102 underdog in their last visit in November 2016. The Bruins have held the Jets to five total goals in four straight victories.
