INDIANAPOLIS — Whenever potential quarterback fits for the New England Patriots are mentioned, Washington State’s Luke Falk always seems to come up.
That’s because he is projected to be selected in the second-to-third round range, when the Patriots are likely to take a quarterback. Falk certainly made some fans in New England on Friday at the NFL Scouting Combine when he was asked about Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
“I definitely try to emulate Brady, and I just think he’s the best at what he does,” Falk said. “He’s definitely a good guy to try to model your game after. …
“In high school, I had a little bit of adversity, and “The Brady 6″ came on. I was already a Tom Brady fan, but just learning about his history at Michigan and adversity he faced with Drew Henson and how he went about each day and how he approached each day and how he’s taken that mindset in the NFL, being a late-round draft pick. He’s 40-years-old, and he still puts everything he’s got into it. I really just want to do that with my game. If it’s good enough for him, it’s good enough for me. Just to see somebody at his age, doing it for so long, he’s still so motivated.”
Falk said he met with the Patriots at the Senior Bowl but has nothing formal planned at the combine. That’s likely, in part, because the Patriots didn’t send their offensive coaches to Indianapolis for the event.
Luke Falk dealt with concussion and wrist issues during his senior season with the Cougars and still completed 66.9 percent of his passes for 3,593 yards with 30 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in Mike Leach’s offense.
