The Boston Red Sox received quite the scare early in Monday’s spring training game against the Chicago Cubs.

Following an overthrow of Yu Darvish in the second inning, Rafael Devers attempted to score from third base and collided with Cubs catcher Victor Caratini. The 21-year-old third baseman proceeded to limp off the field and back into the clubhouse.

The injury ultimately was labeled was a right knee contusion, with Devers officially listed as day-to-day. Luckily for Devers and the Red Sox, it appears the budding star avoided a serious injury.

Boston already is dealing with a few key injuries entering the 2018 season, as projected starters Drew Pomeranz and Eduardo Rodriguez both will start the campaign on the 10-day disabled list.

The Red Sox open their season Thursday afternoon in Tampa Bay against the Rays.
