Rick Nash’s Status Remains Unclear As Bruins Battle Through Injuries

After Don Sweeney met with reporters Wednesday to discuss signing Zdeno Chara to a one-year contract extension, the Bruins general manager shed some light on the recent injuries Boston has been dealing with.

The biggest question mark has been Rick Nash, who hasn’t seen game action since March 17 after suffering an upper-body injury. There hasn’t been many updates regarding Nash other than the NHL veteran being day-to-day with no timetable for his return.

Nash hasn’t been skating, prompting many to wonder if Nash suffered a concussion. But according to the Bruins’ official Twitter account, Nash was working out off the ice Thursday, and head coach Bruce Cassidy said the forward is improving daily.

Sweeney told reporters Wednesday that despite not having a “definitive timetable” for the return of all the injured players on the Bruins’ roster, he’s hopeful to get everyone back before long.

“We’ve had the next-man-up attitude, but we will look forward to getting their full lineup together and having everybody back, and hopefully, before the end of the season,” Sweeney said, per 98.5 The Sports Hub.

Although Sweeney didn’t specifically mention Nash, it’s fair to assume a “full lineup” includes No. 61.

Nash has tallied three goals, three assists and is averaging 16:51 of ice time in 11 games since joining the Bruins in a trade with the New York Rangers.
