Why Marcus Morris’ Game-Winning Shot Vs. Thunder Never Should’ve Happened

NBA officiating has been called into question at an abnormally frequent rate this season, but the Boston Celtics likely won’t complain about a refereeing oversight that occurred Tuesday night.

The Celtics earned one of their most impressive wins of the season Tuesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder at TD Garden. Boston pulled off a comeback for the ages, erasing a five-point deficit with 24 seconds left, capped off by Marcus Morris’ go-ahead 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds remaining on the game clock.

Boston lucked out on the Morris bucket, as Jayson Tatum owned up to a mishap on the play which made the sequence look a tad awkward. But aside from jumbled execution, the C’s also received some good fortune as a result of the officials missing not one, but two calls.

Welp, this news probably will make the loss even tougher to swallow for the Thunder.

And considering how much the hobbled Celtics have struggled of late, they’ll surely take a win any way they can get one.
