Alex Cora Hilariously Addresses Mookie Betts’ First Day Off Of Season

Don’t worry, Boston Red Sox fans. There’s nothing wrong with Mookie Betts.

Betts had started Boston’s first five games of the 2018 season, but the star outfielder will not be featured in the lineup for Tuesday’s series finale in Miami against the Marlins.

It’s simply just a rest day for Betts, who was one of two Red Sox players that hadn’t had a day off this season entering Tuesday, with Xander Bogaerts being the other. While Sox manager Alex Cora probably is wise in getting Betts some early rest, he understands why his lineup decision is troubling for some folks.

Days off for Betts are a rarity over the course of the season, though, so fantasy players likely can count on the 25-year-old to be a consistent point producer on a nightly basis throughout the campaign.
