Atlanta Reminded Of Super Bowl LI Collapse After Braves Blow Eight-Run Lead

It looked as if the Atlanta Braves were going to run away with a win over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday afternoon after leading by as many as eight runs.

But no lead ever is safe in baseball.

Going into the eighth inning, the Cubs were down 10-5, but that’s when the offense really came alive and the bats exploded for nine runs, which would eventually lead to a 14-10 Chicago win.

An Atlanta team giving up a large lead is something New England fans have witnessed first hand — with the infamous “Falcons blew a 25-point lead” from Super Bowl LI — and Twitter was filled with reminders.

The teams close out their series Sunday afternoon.
