The Boston Red Sox are off to their best start in franchise history winning nine straight games since Opening Day.
The Sox’s starting rotation has greatly contributed to their early success, particularly ace Chris Sale, who’s appeared in 17 innings over the course of three starts and tallied 23 strikeouts.
The lefty’s success certainly is a reflection of how the team is proactive in keeping its pitching staff healthy. Prior to Wednesday’s game against the New York Yankees, Sale sat down with Tom Caron, Tim Wakefield and Steve Lyons and explained the importance of managing your pitch count early in the season in order to remain fresh later in the campaign.
