Colin Cowherd Makes Case For Patriots To Move Up, Draft Sam Darnold

Many are expecting fireworks at the 2018 NFL Draft, and Colin Cowherd apparently wants the New England Patriots to provide them.

During Monday’s edition of “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” on FOX Sports 1, Cowherd laid out what he called “his dream draft.” In other words, what he’d like to see happen on draft day versus what he actually expects to happen.

In Cowherd’s fantasy, the Patriots trade up to the No. 1 pick in order to draft Tom Brady’s successor: Sam Darnold. Here’s why Cowherd thinks the blockbuster move should go down:

New England certainly has the capital to swing a monster move after the Brandin Cooks trade, which brought the Pats the No. 23 overall pick to go along with their No. 31 selection. It’s hard to imagine the Patriots not going after a quarterback at some point in the draft, but a trade of this caliber would be very uncharacteristic of Bill Belichick and Co.

Darnold also appears to be viewed as the consensus top QB in this year’s class, so even if New England had its eyes on him, it surely wouldn’t be the only team willing to make a move to land the USC product.
