Dez Bryant likely will head for somewhat familiar surroundings in his next career move.
The free-agent wide receiver told NFL Media’s Jane Slater on Friday following his release from the Dallas Cowboys he’d like to join a team in the NFC East.
Bryant, 29, left the Cowboys’ facility Friday with the intention of returning to Dallas at least once next season as an opponent, according to Cowboys.com beat writer Mickey Spagnola.
Bryant’s declaration has sparked a division-wide guessing game with fans of the Washington Redskins, New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles wondering whether their former tormentor will don their team’s colors in 2018.
USA TODAY’s Mike Jones reports the Redskins are ready to exit the race for Bryant before it begins.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey is extending the Bryant recruitment drive beyond the boundaries of the NFC East.
Bryant should prepare himself for an outpouring of pitches, and perhaps offers, in the coming days and weeks.
