Don Sweeney Provides Updates On Brandon Carlo, Other Injured Bruins

Brandon Carlo won’t play during the Stanley Cup playoffs, but the Boston Bruins defenseman has taken the first step in his recovery process.

With the exception of Carlo, however, the Bruins very well could be back to full strength in time for Thursday night’s Game 1 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In a meeting with the media Monday, Bruins general manager Don Sweeney offered an encouraging update on Carlo, who is out for the season after fracturing his ankle. He also provided news on Rick Nash, Riley Nash and Sean Kuraly, all of whom have missed time down the stretch with upper-body injuries.

All things considered, that’s a strong serving of good news from the Boston GM.

The Bruins dealt with a rash of injuries during the final weeks of the regular season, and it’s probably fair to say the constant roster shuffling contributed to the team’s recent lackluster play. But with the quest for the Cup set to begin, it looks as if the black and gold finally will have (almost) all of their weapons available.

One has to wonder, however, if some of the team’s banged-up-players have had enough time to shake off their rust.
