It apparently didn’t take J.D. Martinez very long to feel at home with the Boston Red Sox.

Martinez was the Red Sox’s marquee free-agent signing of the offseason, with the two sides agreeing to a five-year deal back in late February. While the veteran slugger effectively jumped right into spring training upon signing with Boston, it appears the nature of the Red Sox’s clubhouse made his transition to a new team that much easier.

“The moment I got here, it’s a very loose clubhouse,” Martinez said in an interview with MLB Network’s Tom Verducci on Wednesday. “That’s one thing I noticed right off the bat was how loose everybody was and how relaxed and the mindset. Everbody’s just kind of having fun and I think that’s what we’ve been doing since the start of the season.”

The Sox certainly are having fun at the moment, as they’re taking a nine-game win streak into Wednesday’s game against the New York Yankees at Fenway Park.
