Joe Kelly Salutes Bruins Fans After Garden Plays Red Sox-Yankees Brawl

Joe Kelly’s plunking of Tyler Austin sure has warmed the hearts of Bostonians.

The Boston Red Sox reliever started mayhem Wednesday at Fenway Park when he beaned the New York Yankees designated hitter, starting a total melee.

He was in attendance at Game 2 of the Boston Bruins’ first-round Stanley Cup playoff game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, and the Bruins showed the brawl on the main video board before cutting to Kelly and other Red Sox relievers. As you might expect, the TD Garden faithful went absolutely bananas for Kelly.

Kelly is appealing his six-game suspension for his role in the fracas, but it sure sounds like whatever the final ruling is, New England has his back.
