BOSTON — Tempers always start to flare during the Stanley Cup playoffs, but Nazem Kadri took it to a whole different level Thursday night.

With the Boston Bruins leading the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1 in the third period of Game 1, Kadri delivered a vicious hit on Bruins winger Tommy Wingels.

Wingels and Zdeno Chara had Leafs winger Mitch Marner sandwiched when Kadri hammered Wingels from behind, slamming the winger’s head into the boards.

Take a look:

Kadri received a five-minute penalty for charging and a game misconduct for the hit on Wingels. He previously received a two-minute minor for boarding Wingels earlier in the third period.

Wingels stayed down on the ice for a while before being helped up, he then went down the tunnel.

It was a vicious hit from Kadri and one that could and should warrant a suspension.
