The Toronto Maple Leafs will be without one of their best players for Games 2, 3 and 4 of their first-round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Boston Bruins.

Leafs center Nazem Kadri was suspended three games by the NHL on Friday for boarding Bruins forward Tommy Wingels in the third period of Boston’s 5-1 win in Game 1 on Thursday night.

Here’s the explanation video from the league’s Department of Player Safety:

Kadri was given a five-minute major penalty for charging and a game misconduct for the hit. He received a minor penalty for boarding Wingels earlier in the period.

The 27-year-old forward is the Leafs’ second-line center, so this is a huge blow to their lineup.

Here are the lines the Leafs had at practice Friday, per The Athletic’s Jonas Siegel.

Leo Komarov–Auston Matthews–William Nylander
Zach Hyman–Patrick Marleau–Mitch Marner
