New York Tabloids Didn’t Take Red Sox’s Drubbing Of Yankees Very Well

Yeah, the Boston Red Sox may have a slightly more demanding fan base than the New York Yankees. But you’d best believe New Yorkers were NOT happy Tuesday night.

The Red Sox walloped the Yankees at Fenway Park, administering a 14-1 shellacking in the teams’ first meeting of the year. We’re less than two weeks into the season, of course, but it was the type of loss that would raise even the casual fan’s eyebrow.

So, you can imagine how the New York tabloids reacted. Here are Wednesday’s back pages for the New York Daily News and New York Post:

Looks about right.

Fenway did host a decent contingent of Yankees fans — who, of course, were subjected to “Yankees suck” chants throughout the evening.

As for Aaron Boone, New York’s new manager watched his club suffer its worst defeat to the Red Sox since Aug. 22, 2009, while his counterpart, Boston manager Alex Cora, guided his club to its best 10-game start in franchise history.

In short: Not the best morning to be a Yankees fan.
