When “Thursday Night Football” makes its return this fall, there likely will be at least one significant change.
Back in December, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported the NFL was going to allow its teams to have “more flexibility” with uniforms for Thursday night games, essentially giving teams the option of whether or not to sport the Color Rush jerseys which have been a staple of Thursday nights for three seasons.
CBS Sports reported Tuesday, that the Color Rush jerseys would be around for the 2018 season, but teams will have the choice when to wear them. It also was reported that the actual days teams will be allowed to wear the neon uniforms will be decided at the NFL’s spring league meeting in May,
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo confirmed Tuesday the uniforms aren’t completely going away and some other uniform policy changes could be on the horizon.
The NFL actually has been allowing teams to choose when to wear the uniforms since last season, but only the Los Angeles Chargers and New York Giants elected to wear the Color Rush uniforms on a Sunday.
