NFL Rumors: Ravens Want To Sign Dez Bryant To Bolster Receiver Corps

Do the Baltimore Ravens see Dez Bryant as the final piece of their pass-catching puzzle?

The Ravens are interested in signing the former All-Pro wide receiver as a free agent, The Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Zrebiec reported Monday, citing sources. The Ravens already have signed receivers Michael Crabtree and John Brown this offseason but they might not be finished adding to quarterback Joe Flacco’s arsenal of wideouts.

The team has more than $10 million in remaining salary cap space and can sign Bryant for less than that figure if he’s willing to accept a pay cut.

Whether Bryant would want to join Baltimore is unknown. The Dallas Cowboys released him Friday after eight seasons with the team, and he indicated he’d prefer to join a team in the NFC East.

However, the Washington Redskins, New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles reportedly aren’t interested in signing Bryant, meaning he’ll likely have to take his talents to a team in another division.

The Ravens might be able to spare Bryant from a wandering quest for employment by acting quickly on their desires and convincing him Baltimore is a worthy stage for the second act of his NFL career.
