While drama swirls around the current New England Patriots, let’s consider the past accomplishments of some of their all-time greats, shall we?

The team on Wednesday announced the three finalists for the 2018 class of the Patriots Hall of Fame: offensive tackle Matt Light, defensive lineman Richard Seymour and linebacker Mike Vrabel.

Seymour is back on the ballot for a second straight year, while Vrabel is a finalist for the third consecutive year. Both players lost out in 2017 to defensive back Raymond Clayborn, who became the 26th member of the Patriots Hall of Fame last May.

It’s the first time on the Patriots Hall of Fame ballot for Light, who spent his entire 11-year career in New England. The 48th overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft, Light won three Super Bowl titles with the Patriots and protected quarterback Tom Brady’s blind side for over a decade as a three-time Pro Bowl left tackle.

Seymour and Vrabel each won three Super Bowls with the Pats, as well, and were key cogs on the team’s stout defenses of the early 2000s.

Fans can have a say in the Patriots Hall of Fame selection process by filling out a ballot between now and May 14, when the 2018 inductee will be announced.
