Red Sox’s Brock Holt Gets Start At Shortstop For Third Straight Game

Thursday marks the final game of the Boston Red Sox’s three-game set with the New York Yankees, and utility man Brock Holt is set to start at shortstop. It’ll be the third straight game he’s done manned the position since Xander Bogaerts left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury.

Holt was in the middle of Wednesday night’s drama. After being cleated at second base by Yankees designated hitter Tyler Austin in the third inning, Sox teammate Joe Kelly responded and appeared to respond by hitting Austin in his seventh-inning at-bat. Austin charged the mound after being plunked, sparking a bench-clearing brawl.
