Want LeBron James to play for your team next season? Better have a billboard ready.

New York became the latest metropolitan area to feature a billboard message directed at the Cleveland Cavaliers star Thursday. And this sign cut right to the chase in typical New York fashion.

The billboard, located in midtown Manhattan across from Madison Square Garden, was purchased by the marketing company NYC Ads Co., which posted several photos and videos of the sign on social media to drum up buzz ahead of the Cavs’ visit to New York on Monday.

“Some of you may think we’re crazy and say there’s no chance he ends up in NY,” the company wrote in another Instagram post. “I think why not?”

NYC Ads Co. is right about the “crazy” part: The Knicks aren’t expected to be in the running for James’ services this summer if he opts out of his Cavs contract and hits free agency. New York would have to clear cap space to even be able to sign LeBron, and it’s not exactly an enticing destination at the moment, even with Kristaps Porzingis returning next season.

But that didn’t stop this company from shooting its shot, joining Los Angeles, Northeast Ohio and Philadelphia (by way of Cleveland) in what’s now a real estate race to recruit The King.
