If Tiger Woods is going to win the 2018 Masters Tournament, he’ll need to pull off the greatest performance in golf history.
Entering Sunday’s final round at Augusta National. Woods sits tied for 40th at 4-over par. The superstar golfer virtually has no chance of catching leader Patrick Reed (14-under), or anybody in the top-10, for that matter.
Still, Woods routinely reminds us he’s capable of extraordinary things, and he might have some magic in store for us Sunday afternoon.
We’ll have hole-by-hole updates on Woods’ performance throughout the day.
FIRST HOLE (par 4, 445 yards)
Solid start for Woods, but a disappointing finish.
A great tee shot and an even better approach shot gave Woods a shot for birdie, but his five-foot putt rimmed out and forced him to settle for par.
On the day: even through one (plus-4 overall, T-40).
SECOND HOLEÂ (par 5, 575 yards)

That’s the sound of Woods’ first birdie, which came at the end of a hole that started with a brutal tee shot. Great play around, and on, the green for Woods.
On the day: 1-under through two (plus-3 overall, T-36).
THIRD HOLE (par 4, 350 yards)
Womp womp.
An ugly hole all-around for Woods, as he winds up with his first bogey of the afternoon. As has been the case all week, consistency remains Woods’ biggest problem.
On the day: even through three (plus-4 overall, T-36).
FOURTH HOLE (par 3, 240 yards)
Wow!
Woods hit the back of the cup on his tee shot to almost score the ace but wound up settling for birdie. The roller coaster continues.
On the day: 1-under through four (plus-3 overall, T-35).
FIFTH HOLE (par 4, 455 yards)
Solid performance from Woods. Great play around the green, and he settles for par.
On the day: 1-under through five (plus-3 overall, T-35).
SIXTH HOLE (par 3, 180 yards)
All things considered, Woods made out great on Hole No. 6.
His tee shot sailed wide right of the green, ruining a chance for birdie. But Woods made a great chip — and an even better putt — to save par.
On the day: 1-under through six (plus-3 overall, T-35).
SEVENTH HOLE (par 4, 450 yards)
Well, that was brutal.
Woods followed a great tee shot with a beautiful approach to set up a birdie chance from five feet out. Three putts later and he settled for bogey. Ugly stuff.
On the day: even through seven (plus-4 overall, T-41).
EIGHTH HOLE (par 5, 570 yards)
More ups and downs than a trampoline.
After a putrid display on Hole No. 7, Woods rebounded with a strong showing on eighth hole to pick up another birdie.
On the day: 1-under through eight (plus-3 overall, T-37).
NINTH HOLE (par 4, 460 yards)
One step forward, another step back.
Woods didn’t play terrible golf on the ninth hole, but a mistake on his approach eventually forced him to settle for bogey.
On the day: even through nine (plus-4 overall, T-43).
TENTH HOLE (par 4, 495 yards)
A bomb off the tee and a sweet approach had Woods thinking birdie, but he wound up two-putting for par. Woods is playing nearly identical to how he did Saturday.
On the day: even through 10 (plus-4 overall, T-43).
ELEVENTH HOLE (par 4, 505 yards)
Things have devolved into meh territory for Woods at Augusta.
After a great tee shot, Woods played things safe on his way to another par. Yawn.
On the day: even through 11 (plus-4 overall, T-43).
TWELFTH HOLE (par 3, 155 yards)
Woods playing really safe golf right now. He had a chance for a birdie putt from 30 feet but ultimately settled for par.
On the day: even through 12 (plus-4 overall, T-41).
THIRTEENTH HOLE (par 5, 510 yards)
There he is!
After absolutely destroying his tee shot, Woods finishes strong with another birdie. Had a legitimate chance for eagle, too.
On the day: 1-under through 13 (plus-3 overall, T-39).
FOURTEENTH HOLE (par 4, 440 yards)
Consistency remains a big issue for Woods.
After another terrific tee shot, Woods botched the approach and eventually settled for par. Could’ve been worse, though.
On the day: 1-under through 14 (plus-3 overall, T-39).
FIFTEENTH HOLE (par 5, 530 yards)
And just like that, Woods has his signature moment of the tournament.
Woods followed great tee and approach shots with perfect play on the green, punctuated by a 25-foot putt for eagle.
On the day: 3-under through 15 (plus-1 overall, T-30).
SIXTEENTH HOLE (par 3, 170 yards)
Rough tee shot for Woods, but he rebounds with a solid two-putt to save par. Just a couple holes left.
On the day: 3-under through 16 (plus-1 overall, T-29).
SEVENTEENTH HOLE (par 4, 440 yards)
Although it’s too little, too late, Woods is putting on a show toward the end of the tournament.
Great tee shot, excellent approach and beautiful putt notches Woods yet another birdie.
On the day: 4-under through 17 (even overall, T-24).
EIGHTEENTH HOLE (par 4, 465 yards)
Aaand nevermind.
Woods had a solid tee shot, but he managed an iffy approach followed by a three-putt for bogey. Ugly finish to what was a good round.
Tiger finishes the round at 3-under 69 and plus-1 for the tournament. He entered the clubhouse tied for 31st.
