Torey Lovullo wasn’t long for Sunday afternoon’s game at Busch Stadium.

The Arizona Diamondbacks manager was tossed in the second inning of his team’s contest against the St. Louis Cardinals. Lovullo initially left his post in the dugout to argue a called third strike, which quickly escalated into a shouting match with Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina. The two needed to be separated before both dugouts and bullpens cleared.

After Arizona’s 4-1 win, Lovullo expressed regret while explaining what sparked the incident with Molina.

While Lovullo provided a relatively detail-free response, Molina was far more eager to share his side of the story.

“(Lovullo) called me a m—–f—– twice,” Molina told KPNX-TV, as transcribed by ESPN. “If you’re going to call somebody that, you better be ready to fight.”

Unsurprisingly, the veteran backstop hopes Lovullo is forced to face the consequences of his actions.

The Diamondbacks grabbed two wins in the three-game series in St. Louis.
