Video Of Capitals Player Giving Puck To Young Fan Is Emotionally Draining

The phrases “best thing you’ll see all day” and “get your tissues ready” often are used without merit.

However, both cliches certainly apply to what went down Sunday night at Capital One Arena.

Prior to Game 2 of the Washington Capitals first-round playoff series with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Caps forward Brett Connolly tried (and tried and tried) to give a puck to a little girl. On his first two attempts, young fans sitting next to the girl scored the souvenirs, leaving the her visibly dejected.

But Connolly delivered the goods on his third try, and the results were worth the wait.

Talk about an emotional roller coaster.

Unfortunately for the Connolly, the girl and nearly everyone else in attendance, things only went downhill from there. After surging to a 3-1 lead, the Caps eventually lost 5-4 in overtime and now trail 0-2 in the best-of-seven series.

Washington must get its act together if it wants to avoid yet another disappointing turn in the postseason.
