Why Drake’s ‘Bum’ Taunt Won’t Faze Wizards’ Kelly Oubre Jr.

Kelly Oubre Jr. likes Drake too much to get carried away in the moment.

The Washington Wizards forward told ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk he has no problem with the rap superstar taunting him during games because they’re actually friends. ESPN cameras recorded Drake calling Oubre a “bum” Tuesday night as he ran down the court during the fourth quarter of the Raptors’ win over the Wizards in Game 2 of their first-round NBA playoff series.

Oubre diplomatically responded to Drake’s jibe after the game.

“That’s my guy though. I see him in the summer time… we pretty much run the streets of LA together, on the A-list tip, not in the hood way,” Oubre told Youngmisuk. “He is a great rapper.

“I have no beef with him. I just think it’s pretty cool that my name is mentioned in the same conversation as his. … It’s all fun and games. He’s a fan. He’s coming to support his team, and I’m just coming to play. At the end of the day, it’s all love.”

The Wizards vs. Raptors series will shift to Washington, D.C., for Games 3 and 4. If Drake travels for those games, he probably won’t be sitting close enough to engage with his buddies on either team in any meaningful way.
