Why Marcus Morris Doesn’t Want Celtics-Wizards In First Round Of Playoffs

Marcus Morris likely isn’t afraid of any team in the NBA, but there’s one club he’d like the Boston Celtics to avoid in the first round of the playoffs.

Now that Boston has secured the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, the C’s will face off in the first round with whichever team lands at No. 7. One team in contention for that spot is the Washington Wizards, who have a player on their roster that Morris has quite a bit of history with.

Morris unsurprisingly has talked about a Celtics-Wizards first-round matchup with his twin brother, Markieff, and it’s not something the C’s forward is hoping for.

“Man, every day we talk about it. Honestly, I don’t want to play them first. Can’t lie,” Marcus Morris told ESPN’s Chris Forsberg. “I don’t want to play them first because it’s my brother and we’re going to war. When I go out there — I’ve been telling (my teammates) this is war time. It’s like fighting for your life out here, and I’d hate to see my brother in the first round, to have to be that bully to my brother when I know it’s gonna be like.”

Celtics fans might have a similar sentiment as Marcus Morris. Washington gave Boston quite the scare last season, as the C’s narrowly got past the Wiz in a thrilling seven-game Eastern Conference semifinals series. The Wizards currently own the No. 8 seed heading into Sunday’s slate of games, and Marcus Morris surely is hoping they stay there.
