WrestleMania 34: Brock Lesnar Surprisingly Defends Title; What About UFC Return?

The WWE saved its biggest WrestleMania “swerve” for the end Sunday night.

Brock Lesnar successfully defended his Universal Title over a bloodied Roman Reigns in the WrestleMania 34 main event at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, a truly surprising booking decisionĀ for a multitude of reasons.

Almost everyone expected Reigns — who’s seemingly been anointed as the WWE’s next megastar — to go over Lesnar, whose future with the company seemed in doubt.

UFC president Dana White just confirmed Wednesday thatĀ Lesnar would be returning to the UFC. Of course, he didn’t say when Lesnar’s return would happen, but the 40-year-old isn’t getting any younger.

Additionally, The Wrestling Observer had reported Lesnar’s contract expired after WrestleMania and that he hadn’t signed an extension yet.

There is always a chance Lesnar drops the title Monday night at “RAW,” as the night-after-WrestleMania show usually serves as a reset for the upcoming year.

Lesnar returned to the UFC in 2016 to headline UFC 200, where he defeated Mark Hunt. However, the decision ultimately was overturned after Lesnar failed two drug tests and was handed a one-year suspension. He’ll still have to serve a bulk of that ban after announcing his retirement in 2017 which froze the suspension.
