2019 Beanpot Live: Boston College Fends Off Harvard, Advances To Title Game

The 67th Beanpot tournament kicks off Monday night with a semifinal matchup between No. 17 Harvard and Boston College. This is 43rd time in the history of the tournament the Eagles and Crimson have met, with BC owning a 28-14 record.

Last season, Harvard earned its first win over the Eagles since 1998 with a 5-4 overtime victory in the consolation round.

Third period, 1:57, 2-1 Boston College: Harvard takes a timeout before going on the power play. Julius Mattila off for BC for boarding.

Third period, 2:21, 2-1 Boston College: Joseph Woll robs Harvard’s Frederic Gregoire’s bid from the faceoff circle with a kick save.

Third period, 2:59, 2-1 Boston College: Harvard kills the penalty, but time is running out.

Third period, 5:02, 2-1 Boston College: Boston College goes on the power play after Jack Badini heads to the box for a tripping penalty following a nasty collision with David Cotton.

Third period, 7:38, 2-1 Boston College: BC goal! Jack McBain puts the Eagles ahead off a feed from Oliver Wahlstrom.

Wahlstrom backhanded a pass into the slot on the rush that was deflected, but found its way to McBain, who lifted the shot over Michael Lackey’s glove.

Third period, 9:37, 1-1: JD Dudek beat two BC defenders and tried to beat Michael Lackey with a wraparound attempt that wouldn’t go. Graham McPhee came in to recover the rebound, but his backhand flew over the net.

Third period, 14:57, 1-1: Harvard’s Michael Floostrand with a good 1-on-1 chance coming up the right side, but Joseph Woll stands tall with a glove stop.

Third period, 17:21, 1-1: Joseph Woll has been busy in the early goings inthe final period of regulation, coming up with three quick saves.

SECOND INTERMISSION, 1-1

Harvard has a 15-10 shot advantage.

Second period, 3:35, 1-1: Boston College comes back firing, creating two great scoring chances, including an Oliver Wahlstrom slot rocket that rang the post.

Second period, 4:23, 1-1: Harvard goal! John Marino wheeled down into the corner and found Henry Bowlby with a centering pass to even the game.

Second period, 6:40, 1-0 Boston College: Harvard now is 0-for-3 on the power play, with Adam Fox getting the best look for the Crimson, ringing the post on a point shot.

Second period, 9:38, 1-0 Boston College: This time it’s BC’s Chris Grando to the penalty box for a holding call.

Second period, 10:02, 1-0 Boston College: Nothing cooking on the Eagles power play, but Julius Mattila did get a beautiful look from the right faceoff circle, which was kicked aside by Michel Lackey.

Second period, 12:45, 1-0 Boston College: The power play woes continue for both sides as the Crimson make the kill. But BC will get another chance as Harvard’s Henry Bowlby goes to the box hooking penalty.
